Measurement Tools

The Measure button is used to perform measurements on a frozen image and enables objective quantification of findings, which is essential for accurate assessment of structural dimensions and for monitoring changes over time. Depending on the equipment available, several types of measurements can be used: Distance measures the distance between two points, such as the length, width, or thickness of a structure; Area allows determination of the area of a selected region, which is useful for fluid collections or focal lesions; Circumference is used to measure the circumference of a delineated structure; Angle enables determination of the angle between two lines or structures; and Volume (if available on the device) is used to calculate the volume of the examined region. Properly performed measurements improve the accuracy of documentation, facilitate comparison of findings at follow-up examinations, and contribute to greater objectivity in ultrasound assessment.

The Pictograms button is used to insert schematic pictograms depicting individual body parts or joint regions. These graphic symbols facilitate orientation within the documentation and help clearly identify the examined area, which is particularly important when saving images, reviewing them retrospectively, or sharing findings with other physicians. Proper use of pictograms enhances both the clarity and standardization of image documentation.

The ABC button allows the insertion of text annotations directly into the ultrasound image. It is used to label anatomical structures, pathological findings, or reference information, thereby enhancing the clarity and informational value of the image documentation. Properly added text facilitates subsequent interpretation of the saved image, sharing it with other physicians, and retrospective comparison of findings over time.
