This article presents a practical dynamic ultrasound protocol for examining the elbow. Its main strength is that it shows how real-time movement, stress testing, and symptom reproduction can improve the assessment of elbow pain, instability, snapping, effusion, and impingement.

Interesting highlights:

Dynamic flexion and extension help detect joint effusion, synovial hypertrophy, loose bodies, and anterior or posterior impingement.

Pronation and supination are useful for assessing the distal biceps tendon, radiocapitellar joint, radiohumeral plica, and proximal radioulnar joint stability.

The cubital tunnel can be scanned dynamically to evaluate ulnar nerve subluxation or dislocation, snapping triceps, and posteromedial impingement.
