Patient positioning
The diagram shows the recommended patient position for elbow examination. The goal is optimal access to the examined structures, stability during examination, and patient comfort in individual projections.

Patient positioning
- Basic position for ventral view.
- Position for examination of the medial view.
- Position for examination of lateral and dorsal views.
Clinical Note
Elbow examination in a supine position usually allows for a more comfortable and stable limb position for the patient and easier probe handling for the examiner. However, the examination can also be performed in a sitting position, where direct comparison of both sides may be more advantageous.
