This article presents a practical dynamic ultrasound protocol for examining the shoulder. Its main strength is that it shows how real-time movement, stress testing, and symptom reproduction can improve the assessment of shoulder pain and instability.
Interesting highlights:
The protocol covers dynamic evaluation of the rotator cuff, subacromial-subdeltoid bursa, long head of the biceps tendon, and acromioclavicular joint.
It shows how movement can reveal impingement, tendon instability, bursal conflict, restricted gliding, joint effusion, and abnormal humeral head motion.
It also includes useful maneuvers such as shoulder rotation, arm elevation, cross-body adduction, ABER positioning, rotator cuff stress testing, and bursal sonopalpation.
Most useful for:
MSK ultrasound clinicians, rehabilitation physicians, sports medicine clinicians, radiologists, orthopedic physicians, and anyone assessing shoulder pain, snapping, instability, impingement, bursitis, or rotator cuff disorders.
