This article demonstrates a practical and visually illustrative approach to teaching MSK sonoanatomy. It explains how normal ultrasound images can be better memorized using metaphors, mnemonic devices, analogies, images, and videos.
The article focuses particularly on how to:
more quickly recognize common anatomical structures on ultrasound,
better navigate complex sonoanatomical relationships,
connect ultrasound images with simple visual patterns,
facilitate memorization of normal anatomy, especially for beginners.
The visual analogies used include images such as "honeycomb", "feather", "spaghetti", "Mickey Mouse", or "traffic lights", which help convert complex images into easily recalled visual information.
The article is intended primarily for beginning sonographers and clinicians who want to accelerate learning, improve orientation during scanning, and gain greater confidence in interpreting findings as well as in safely performing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
The main idea of the article is that connecting sonoanatomy with a simple visual image significantly facilitates orientation, memorization, and practical use during examination.
