This article shows how musculoskeletal ultrasound can be very useful in cubital tunnel syndrome. In this case, ultrasound identified not only swelling of the ulnar nerve, but also heterotopic ossification compressing the nerve. This is especially valuable because ultrasound allows dynamic assessment of both the nerve and the surrounding tissues in real time.
A key practical point is that ultrasound was also used to guide treatment. The injection was performed under ultrasound guidance, allowing accurate placement near the affected nerve. Ultrasound can also be helpful in follow-up by monitoring changes in nerve size after therapy.
Interesting highlights:
Ultrasound detected the exact structural cause of nerve compression.
It supported both diagnosis and targeted treatment.
It provided a useful tool for follow-up evaluation.
The case suggests a possible association between long-term vibration exposure and heterotopic ossification.
